Research assistant 2010-2013
My main academic interest concerns ancient food and anything related, working with both textual and archaeological sources, e.g. how is dining habits reflected in material culture, the impact of the early Islamic agricultural revolution or the importance of commensality in identity formation. I am currently working on a book on food in Mesopotamia.
I received my MA in Ancient history of Western Asia with the thesis “Will the real Medes please stand up? A critical analysis of the Medes and Media in textual and archaeological sources 836-539 BC and the theme of Median hegemony in 21st century scholarship”.
I am employed as project coordinator of the QIAH project and tend to the daily running of MIRI.
